Our History

We founded Millworks based on a need identified by decades of experience and insights our team gained while navigating the industry’s complex transition to the cloud. We’re watching firsthand how consumption business models can rapidly increase costs and hugely impact earnings. We developed Caliper to deliver fast and visual exposures of that.

The cloud is an amazing technology advancement, but costs can spiral out of control if they’re not measured and managed on an ongoing basis. Further complicating the issue, different business models and their unique characteristics often lead to decentralized decisions by individuals from different roles across an organization.

We knew being able to drill down in a more and more precise manner, and providing much needed visibility to key decision makers is the way to solve this problem in a sustainable way. We know from experience that all cloud environments evolve rapidly, whether it be customer behavior or new features or products that fluctuate demand and usage, and there’s a clear and present need to ask deeper and more complex questions of data. Making changes to your cloud environment requires thoughtful analysis and can't be taken lightly. There was no easy button.

We also know from experience the solution needs to be simple and easy to use.  FinOps and DevOps need to be able to speak a common language around the data. More importantly, we know in today’s environment, the solution needs to be cost efficient.

Caliper is that solution.
